Katie turns one!!!

Can you believe a year has gone by already?  I can't!  It just goes way too fast for me!   This past Thursday, Febuary 4th, we celebrated Katie's first b'day by inviting over all my daycare kids and their siblings along with a few of our really close friends!   Katie had a blast!!!  She partied so hard that she fell asleep that night at 6:30pm and didn't wake up until 8:15am.    We had 19 kids (we were missing our good friend Zach who was home with the stomach bug) here and 9 adults (missing our friend Amy)!  It was about as loud and chaotic as a kid party could possibly be, but we sure had fun!  We ordered pizza and had Katie's "My Little Pony" cupcake cake!  Boy did she enjoy her cupcake!  It was quite entertaining watching that process take place!  At first she wasn't so sure of what to do with it but then she got one small lick of the frosting and the rest was history!  HA!  Gotta love the frosting..it's the best part in my opinion!   Katie also loved all her gifts she received from her friends.  Boy what a difference two months makes.  She really got the hang of tearing open the paper and wanted to do it herself when just two months ago at Christmas she really didn't seem to interested in opening gifts.   Here is a snapshot of what Katie is doing these days!  

KATIE....What are you up to?

• You are not quite walking but are definitely getting close.  You will stand on your own without holding onto anything and then take one or two steps and fall down.  You love using your push toys to walk around,  but when you need to get somewhere fast you drop down to your hands and knees and take off!
• You have mastered going up the stairs going but we are still working on reminding you to turn around and go down backward!    
• You are still very busy and you want to get into everything!   I am constantly reminding your brothers to shut the bathroom doors since you discovered the toilet the other day and threw your sock in! YUCK!
• You love almost all of the table foods that we eat!  Your favorites include scrambled eggs, buttered toast, fruit (all kinds), pasta, cheese and crackers! 
• You are still on soy formula but I think we are going to try mixing it with a little milk next week to see how your tummy handles it.  We may need to do lactose-free or soy milk if you have issues with it. 
• You are becoming a great sleeper!!!  I was a little worried there for awhile but you seem to have settled into a nice sleep schedule now!  You go to bed around 6:30pm and wake up around 7:30-8am.  You still are taking two naps a day but I see that dwindling to one longer nap very soon!
• You are still crazy about your brothers and want to be involved in whatever it is they are doing!   Our hope is that you three will always be close!!! 
• You give hugs to us and when your hand is on our back you pat your hand up and down like we probably do to you!  It is the sweetest thing! 
• We can't believe that one year has gone by so fast!  We feel so blessed that you are in our lives!  We love you baby girl!!!

She already LOVES babies! She gives them kisses constantly! She actually started bawling after this pic was taken because we didn't get it out of the box fast enough!  How dare us show it to her and then not give it to her to hold!!!!  :)
